Never arrange a face-to-face meeting with someone you met on-line.

A child should be instructed that this is a NEVER to do thing. If the situation somehow is absolutly required then the child should advise the online friend that some conditions must be met:
The meeting must be in a public place.
Both the child and the childs friend must be with a parent or a closely related adult for the meeting.

Never post pictures of yourself or friend onto the Internet or on-line service to people you do not personally know.

Most sites that allow posting of pictures and information about a user such as Mysapce and Facebook have settings to restrict access to who can see the images. A child should be instructed on how to secure their informatio so that only known friends can access it.

Never give out identifying information such as your name, home address, school name, or telephone number.

There is just no exception to this online in public areas.

Never download pictures or files from an unknown source, chatroom, or messenger, there is a good chance they could be sexually explicit images or a virus.

It has become a wide spread practice to send sexual content via messengers and chat rooms. Some people will send a virus ,worm , or trojan software that may attempt to scan your computer for personal information, passwords, email, credit card numbers, etc.

Never respond to messages or bulletin board postings that are suggestive, obscene, belligerent, or harassing.

Just simply delete them if possible or ignore the message. These sorts of people depend on your reaction.

Never believe whatever you are told on-line in a chat room, messenger, etc, it may or may not be true.

People can say what ever they want and be who ever they want to be online.
